A 22 kil\u00f3metros de Sevilla y cuenta con aproximadamente con 13.000 habitantes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p ><span>Los romanos la llamaron Qulumbira, por la presencia masiva de palomas en este lugar. Los \u00e1rabes Billa Nuva, Al-Bahroyyin o alquer\u00ed\u00ada de los Bahries. Pero el nombre actual tiene su origen en la \u00e9poca visigoda; en el lugar llamado de Aguas Duras hab\u00ed\u00ada un monasterio benedictino. Los moz\u00e1rabes la llamaban Beren\u00e9, de donde deriva el actual nombre, empezado a utilizar desde el repartimiento del siglo XIII.<\/span><br \/>\n<span>Fue conquistada por Fernando III en el a\u00f1o 1247, seg\u00fan la marcha seguida por sus ej\u00e9rcitos. Brenes se entreg\u00f3 al Rey de Castilla por un pacto de vasallaje. Fue entregada a D. Fadrique por Alfonso X y luego pasar\u00ed\u00ada al Cabildo de la Catedral, hasta la supresi\u00f3n de los se\u00f1or\u00ed\u00ados en el siglo XIX.<\/span><\/p>\n<p ><span>El principal monumento de inter\u00e9s es la Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepci\u00f3n del siglo XV de estilo mud\u00e9jar y la Ermita de San Sebasti\u00e1n S.XVII \/ S.XX. La Feria de Brenes, se celebrar\u00e1 en octubre, est\u00e1 enmarcada cada a\u00f1o dentro de las Fiestas Patronales de la localidad en honor a la Ntra. Sra. del Rosario.<\/span><\/p>\n<p >En su <strong>gastronom\u00eda<\/strong> destaca el c<span>ocido de habas y guisantes, la menestra de alcauciles y los caracoles guisados.
