Con m\u00e1s de 12.000 habitantes. Est\u00e1 a 13 km de la capital andaluza, cuenta con cuatro n\u00facleos de poblaci\u00f3n: Alcal\u00e1 del R\u00edo y las pedan\u00edas de El Viar, Esquivel y San Ignacio del Viar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p ><span>Los or\u00edgenes de Alcal\u00e1 del R\u00edo se sit\u00faan en la m\u00e1s remota antig\u00fcedad. Situada en la orilla del r\u00edo Guadalquivir, arteria principal de comunicaciones desde la \u00e9poca prerromana. De la Alcal\u00e1 \u00e1rabe destaca la construcci\u00f3n de algunas zonas como el Alc\u00e1zar y alrededores, que han determinado su estructura e idiosincrasia hasta hoy d\u00eda.<\/span><\/p>\n<p ><span>Es de destacar la <strong>Iglesia de Santa Mar\u00eda de la Asunci\u00f3n<\/strong>, emplazada en la Plaza de El Calvario, donde su fachada y su torre son bastante importantes. Por otra parte, la <strong>Real Capilla de San Gregorio<\/strong> de Alcal\u00e1 del R\u00edo y la Cruz blanca.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p ><span>En septiembre tiene lugar la Festividad de <strong>San Gregorio de Osset<\/strong>, patr\u00f3n de la ciudad. Con una\u00a0 Semana Santa, declarada de Inter\u00e9s Tur\u00edstico Nacional de Andaluc\u00eda. La rica gastronom\u00eda, fueron famosas las angulas del r\u00edo Guadalquivir a su paso por Alcal\u00e1.
